Bachelors in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP)
Take the first step to an exciting career in a niche field
Once you pass our four year BASLP course, you can practice as a speech language pathologist or audiologist. The program is affiliated to Bangalore Central University and recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India
- 3 years course work
- 1 year internship
- Total seats: 40
- Duration: 6 semesters + 1 year internship
Eligibility Criteria for BASLP
a) The candidate applying for admission to BSLPA course should have passed
10+2 examination or equivalent / two years of Pre-University/Pre-Degree
examination conducted by the Pre University Board of Education of Government
of respective State, and further,
b) The applicant/candidate should have studied:
Physics, Chemistry & Biology / Mathematics / Computer Science / Statistics /
Electronics / Psychology/ Home Science.
c) At the time of entry/admission to the first semester BSLPA course the
candidate should be of age 17 years and there is no upper age limit for admission.
d) Lateral entry to 2nd year of BSLPA is permitted for candidates who meet the
following criteria as per Bangalore University rules:
i) Successfully passed Diploma in Hearing-Language-Speech (DHLS) revised
course from any RCI recognized training institute with Science background as
specified under 3 (b)
ii) Two years of work experience in the field.
iii) A maximum of 3 seats can be admitted on merit basis as supernumerary to
total intake permitted by RCI and respective affiliating University. For candidates
who have successfully passed the pre-revised DHLS course recognized by RCI
with 2 years of work experience, 3 month short course approved by RCI and
entrance test will be the requirement.

Facilities
Clinical facilities to help you learn better
The Institute has a dedicated floor of 3500 sq ft and an excellent clinical set up with well-equipped departments for audiology and speech diagnosis. There is also a neuro rehabilitation unit to treat adult patients with stroke and other neurological conditions. As a student, you get practical training in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of speech, language and hearing disorders.
Partnerships
To ensure varied clinical exposure the Institute has a partnership with the following hospitals:
- 5 primary healthcare centers in Hebbal, Bangalore
- Railway Hospital, Yelahanka, Bangalore
- General Hospital, Yelahanka, Bangalore
You get to spend approximately 18 hours every week observing and working with patients under supervision. Students are trained in following evidence-based practices in the treatment of communication disorders in children and adults. All therapy sessions are documented and progress is monitored closely.
Library
Samvaad has a well-equipped library with the latest books and journals. The library also has high speed internet facilities.
Accommodation
The Institute runs a ladies’ hostel with all required facilities. Arrangements are made for boys’ accommodation as well.

Once you complete your graduate degree (BASLP), you can advance your career by signing up for MSc.SLP. The MSc.SLP course is affiliated to Bangalore Central University and recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India.
2 years course spanning 4 semesters
- 5 papers per semester
- 1 dissertation in the final semester in lieu of a theory paper
Total seats: 12
Duration: 4 semesters + 1 dissertation
(50% of seats are reserved for students of Bangalore University)

BASLP, B. Sc in Speech and Hearing, or an equivalent degree from any recognized Indian or overseas university.
- 50% score in the undergraduate program
- Special concession of a 45% score for SC/ST candidates
- Undergraduate should be completed no earlier than 2003
- Age: below 35 years
- below 40 years for SC/ST candidates
- Successful completion of 1-year internship
